Triptych of Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist.

Four senior clerics at Saint John's Hospital commissioned this altarpiece for their church. The had themselves immortalised on the rear of the two wings which meant that on ordinary weekdays when the triptych was closed all that could be seen was these four praying figures and their patron saints. The shutters were opened on Sundays and feast days allowing the hospital's residents to admire the painting in all its glory.
