Although there is no evidence regarding the origin and identity of the four candlesticks, there is no doubt that they are from the Tomb House of Saint George's
chapel in Windsor during the reign of Henry VIII. The bronze objects contain the coat of arms of the Tudors. They were brought to the mainland during the English Civil War. Ghent bishop Antonius Triest bought them from a Dutch merchant and donated the four candlesticks to the Saint Bavo Cathedral where they are in the high choir.
