The wooden and almost petrified characters are among the most striking features of this primitive master. The landscapes are also little detailed. On the left panel is Mary of Salome on the right panel is Mary of Cleopas. On the outsides of the side panels, the donors Josse van der Straeten and his wife Margaretha van Rye with their children and the patron saints stand in a fairly stereotyped view.
