Two pieces of imitation sandstone sculpture appear above Adam and Eve. These reliefs illustrate the first consequence of the couple's sin Cain's murder of his younger brother Abel. They serve as another symbol of the tragic history of humankind which has suffered so much from fraticidal violence.
