A flour sack dating from the First World War. During the Great War the neutral contries such as the USA and Canada provided Belgium in flour and other food. The flour sacks were used by Belgians to make new clothing, accessories, pillows, bags, and other functional items. They were also used for embroidering. Many of these embroidered flour sacks contain messages of gratitude. This flour sack contained flour from the Empire Flour Mills, an american company. The sack has remained in its original state.
