This painting is the only work in Flanders of this caravaggist from Utrecht. It has a special artistic value because of the monumental composition that depicts the essence of the event using an exceptional color palette. It is one of the few paintings by ter Brugghen on which the painter portrays figures in full in a dynamic composition.
